Rainy Days

Since the weather has turned rainy we have spent most of it inside. Thursday we did get into town a little and did some shopping. There is a fun toy store there and I made a couple great finds. We have a plan for our grandnephews and nieces for next Christmas and I found just what I needed at a very good price. I love a good deal! Also a couple little things for our new granddaughter.

 Inside we've been doing some reading and I am knitting some fingerless gloves. On Sunday we've decided to move to Eugene for a few days before our workcamping gig. It will give us a chance to do some shopping for a few things we can't find in these small towns. Hope its sunny where you are.

    Pretty pictures. We have had very windy days this week so have been inside much of the time too. Wind is no more fun than rain. Can't wait to hear all about the lighthouse gig.

    I guess it is true about Oregon..lots of rain. I hope we have nice weather this summer up there. Either way it is beautiful country.

    It IS Sunny where we are. We have had amazing weather for at least a month now. So when do you start at Heceta... March 1st?

    We loved Bandon and wish we were heading back there this summer. Enjoy your time in Eugene. We found it to be a great city. The Farmer's Market is fabulous!

Back in Iowa and changes ahead

The Birthday Girl! I've been contemplating this post ever since we arrive back in Iowa. We got here by way of Smith Center KS where we had some work done at the Excel Service Center. A new air conditioner, gray tank, slide seals and adjustment and we were on our way.  They do a great job there but it was definitely a bill. Our spot outside the bay at the service center I'm 4!! Add caption We arrived back in Iowa in time for both John's birthday and our granddaughter Evie's 4th birthday. It has been so great to see her, Mitch and Jen again. Soon we hope to see our older son Gabe and his wife Melissa. They live in NW Iowa and hope to make it here in a couple weeks. It's also good to see old friends again. A good friend Steph is recovering from chemo and it was so good to see her and hear her CT scan looked good at the end of treatment. More Friends and Family :)

View off Al and Judi's deck The last week or so has been full of visits with friends and family. We arrived at Two Rivers State Park near Waterloo, Nebraska. John had a good friend near here that we made plans so meet. This is part of the group that calls him “Doc” and we did get together with them at a wedding in St. Louis this summer. Al and Judi live on a Lake about 20 minutes from this park. I also have friends that live close to this park, Teri and Alan, but Terri is in Florida on business and Alan was out of town too, so I struck out. I did get to see them last year on our way through so will try to catch them next time through the area. One of the benefits of this lifestyle is getting a chance to visit with old friends. Al and Judi Tuesday afternoon we drove to Al and Judi’s for dinner. They have a great house on a lake with a beautiful view. We also took a boat ride around the lake. We really enjoyed the visit. Time for me to learn to drive this rig.

Trail at Squaw Creek park Yesterday we moved back to Morgan Creek park (about a 15 mile drive) and I drove the rig! We have always said that I needed to start doing this but I never seem to do it. The first year I think John just felt he needed to get proficient at all the driving & parking things before he had me do it and then we just got lazy. It was just easier for him to do it. Recently friends of our that we met in Tucson, John and Terri had a very harrowing experience that reminded us why we both need to be able to drive this rig. John they think had a seizure while driving, luckily not towing but still it is amazing that they survived it. What this meant is that now Terri had to do the driving back to their former home town Sacramento and like me she had not done much driving. She did great and they are now coming off the road and starting a new phase of life. All of John's test look good so far and we wish him the best and hope that it was just a one time isolated...
