Getting ready to head to Tucson

Golden Canyon Death Valley

This last week has been a nice relaxing week, just what the doctor (or maybe just us) ordered. Though Pahrump doesn’t have lots to do, it has been a great place for us to kick back. This resort has been good for us. I have used the fitness center almost every day, getting back in the swing of working out. Just what I needed. The weather has been chilly and windy so being able to get on the treadmill and doing a little jogging and walking  has been what I needed. We leave here tomorrow a little better than when we arrived.

Tomorrow we will begin our trek to Tucson. It is about 8-9 hour away so we will do it in two days, we try not to do more than 4-5 hours a day. There is some BLM land north of Quartzite, Arizona that we plan on stopping at  on Friday night. We will arrive at Justin’s Diamond J RV park on Saturday. We will probably have to dry camp a night and move to a spot on Sunday. That is ok as they will let us dry camp for free. That makes 2 free nights of camping and that is ok with us. I think because we were planning on a two month stay in California, which meant staying put for a short period, it threw us a little to have to change all that. This last week has been a good time to get our bearings back and ready for the next move. We have had several friends tell us how much we will enjoy the Tucson area and now we are excited to see what Tucson has to offer. One of the great things about this park is we know there are several other Excel owners in the park and we are anxious to meet them. I have conversed with one couple on the owners forum and one through email. One of the great things about the RV community is how open and friendly they are. Looking forward to making new friends.

So everyone ready for the Super Bowl?? I’m usually not that into football these days but I’d love to see a Packer win! Gotta stick by those midwest teams. So GO PACK!!!

  1. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I'm looking forward to hearing about your stay in Tucson as that is one of the places we're considering for next winter.

Thanks for the dental insights. Someday, we'll have to have a talk about it :)

    GO PACK GO!

  2. We are going to be in Tucson next Jan or Feb, so I am also interested in where you stay and your thoughts of whatever campgrounds you stay at in the area.
